ISO 3166-2:IN

ISO 3166-2:IN is the entry in ISO 3166-2, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), which defines codes for the names of the principal subdivisions of India (whose ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code is IN).

Currently 28 states and 7 Union territories are assigned codes. Each code starts with IN-, followed by two letters, which is currently used in the vehicle registration plates of India (except Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand whose vehicle codes are CG and UA/UK respectively instead of CT and UL).
